About
Catawba Valley Citizen is an online news service that relies on the contributions of community corespondents, photographers and guest contributors. We officially launched on June 1, 2009. One thing that separates us from other media outlets in the area, is that we are entirely web based and community driven. We are grassroots!
Every day, we “feed” the news to thousands of people utilizing social networking and web 2.0 technologies. This enables our community to have quick, reliable access to news & happenings on-the-go or at their desk. Using these technologies our readers can have the news delivered to them by SMS text messaging, email or they can “follow” us on their favorite social networking website – all for FREE!
We provide a number of free services to the community – including free advertising for local charities and affordable advertising for local businesses. We also maintain an online community calendar where the community can share local events and happenings.
Best of all, Catawba Valley Citizen allows the entire community to be represented without the influx of special interest or political/religious agendas – simply because our staff is made up of people from all walks of life, political & religious persuasions and interests. If you can’t find the news on Catawba Valley Citizen, then you have discovered a place for you! Get involved in a new generation of social media.
