Lenoir-Rhyne Names New Director of Annual Giving

HICKORY, NC – Lenoir-Rhyne University announced today that Krystal Phillips had been named director of annual giving at the university.

In this position, she will be responsible for the execution and management of the LRU’s annual giving program, which solicits donations in support of current operations. She will manage The Fund for Lenoir-Rhyne, the University Champions, LRU Business Council, and Fifth Reunion Giving Committees.

Phillips is a 2000 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne and has been employed in the university’s Advancement Office since 2004. Before working at L-R, she was employed by the Statesville March of Dimes as coordinator of WalkAmerica and special events. She joined the L-R staff as director of the President’s Society. In this position, she planned, coordinated and directed all programs in support of the President’s Society to generate leadership gifts.

From July 2007 to January 2009, she was a major gifts officer for L-R. In this position, she was responsible for soliciting gifts of $25,000 or more from alumni and friends of the university.

She became director of annual giving on an interim basis in January of this year, and was named to the position on a permanent basis in June. Phillips lives in Hickory with her husband, Kenn, and their son, Oscar.
