Alexander County Schools Announces Principal Assignments

TAYLORSVILLE, NC – Alexander County Schools announced today that it has assigned several staff to fill vacancies following the 2008-2009 school year.

Mrs. Jessica E. Stout has been named Ellendale Elementary School Principal effective July 1, 2009. Mrs. Stout holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education form Virginia Intermont College and a master’s Degree in School Administration from Appalachian State University. Mrs. Stout is a National Board Certified Teacher and has eight years of teaching experience. She has served as the assistant principal shared between Wittenburg Elementary and Ellendale Elementary for two years.

Dr. Michael Sherrill of Statesville has been named assistant principal at Alexander Central High School effective July 1, 2009. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, a master’s degree in School Administration, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Appalachian State University. He taught high school math for 10 years. He served as an assistant principal for four years, a principal for five years and most recently served as the Special Assistant to the Superintendent in the Iredell-Statesville School System.

Also joining the administrative team at Alexander Central High School is Mrs. Crystal B. Hoke effective July 20, 2009. Mrs. Hoke holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s in Special Education as well as a licensure in School Administration from Appalachian State University. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and has nine years teaching experience. She was recognized in 2005-2006 as the teacher of the year for Alexander County Schools.

Alexander County Schools eliminated two assistant principal positions due to the budget cuts. One position at the high school will not be filled and the split position between Ellendale Elementary and Wittenburg Elementary will not be filled.
